The Website Development Process: Phase
V: Test/Launch
Support Unlimited tests the website to ensure it functions properly
– that all the links work and that the site is easy to navigate through from
an end-user’s perspective. In addition, Support Unlimited ensures
the website is easily viewable from various different Internet browsers
(Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.), as well as on various sized screens,
and using various types of connections to the Internet (dial-up,
cable modem, T-I, DSL).
Utilizing our Quality
Control Checklist, Support Unlimited verifies
that the website is supported on a variety of browsers, checks for
spelling, punctuation and grammar issues, verifies hyperlinks to external
and internal pages are in working order, and maintains that the font
usage, size and style formatting is consistent throughout the website.
Support Unlimited asks that the client’s associates spend
some time on the development website during the test and launch phase
to provide feedback for further refinement or changes as needed.
When the revisions and testing are complete, the site is ready
to be launched! Support Unlimited posts the client’s website
at the designated URL (i.e. www.supportunlimited.net),
and registers the site with all major search engines. It is critical
that the client have a marketing strategy in place to promote and
communicate its newly launched website. The communications should
be created to encourage clients or clients to visit the company’s
new website, and should highlight the features and benefits of the
new website.
